Sat Jul 25th The Grannies win by 1 wicket

Match report

Hurlingham Club CC - 291-8 declared off 50 overs
The Grannies CC 292-9 off 47.5 overs

Wonderful day in the Hurlingham sun yesterday - right down to the wire for a Grannies win!

Both sides with 130+ opening stands and wobbly middles...

Henry Wilkinson opening the attack and sticking at it for 12 overs on the trot to get his reward with the Pike wicket - very handy batter who could've done irreparable damage. And for hitting the winning runs! Always clutch that man. Superb hustle from Tom Morton keeping it in difficult areas and closing us out when they were looking to hit big for 5 overs before declaration - and a fast knock to put them off balance at a critical time. Great shift from Hugh Tayler behind the sticks and opening the batting with Linehan to get us well on our way before needing Tom Carr to bring some style and stability and help us over the line.

Worth noting the skipper's excellent 4 wickets and run out too & quick fire 27 runs without which it would have been a very different outcome.

But more than anything - a spirited side wanting to leave another Gs shaped mark on the lawns of SW6.

Well done all! COYG
