Sun Apr 25th Grannies lose by 99 runs

Match report

The Grannies had a hugely enjoyable afternoon’s cricket at the HAC (at the earlier April date this year) with the match again going the way of the hosts. It was a familiar story - a solid bowling performance saw the HAC all out for 208; Olly Butler put in a tireless shift and was unlucky to finish with just the one wicket, with spinners Gus Gayford (2-33) and John Gibbons (4-33) both chipping in. At 62-1 the Grannies looked well set to chase the HAC total down; the watchful Paul Davies (33) and Will Devitt (25) having combined well to put on a 50 partnership. The loss of Devitt proved decisive and the trigger for a fairly monumental collapse - Grannies all out for 109 and only Gibbons (28) offering much in the way of resistance down the order, with Parry finishing with 5-19 for the HAC. Still - a fun game as usual and just great to be back on a pitch after (for most of us) the best part of two years.
