Match report

8 veteran Grannies appeared at Goodwood and after all the aches and pains had been discussed, a cavalcade of buggies appeared to cart us round this lovely course.

The A team (Fernie, Slocock, Carr and Begg) set off at 9.40 quickly followed by C.Tod, Percival, Streeter and Draffan.

Under a Stapleford format with full handicap, some of which seemed difficult to recall, the A team returned home as the eventual winners of the team prize with an overall score of 127 against 119.

The most coveted Rocking Chair prize for the best individual performance went to the oldest, silver haired Granny, Tim Begg, with 35 points closely followed by a strong finishing Fernie with 34, who snaffled the prize for 'nearest the pin'. The prize for the longest drive was hotly disputed by the shortest Granny as to whether or not his ball was on the fairway and in the end the prize was awarded to the tallest Granny!

The prize for the most outrageous shot was undisputedly awarded to our Chairman as his prodigious hook into the trees on the 13th rebounded into the middle of the fairway.

Much fun was had by all and we ended the day by tucking into roast pork and sticky toffee pud!
