Result - Stone CC

Sun Aug 14th Grannies lose by 86 runs in 40 over match

Match report

On a sunny day the match manager, realising that he was batting-heavy and bowling-light opted to put in the opposition. Predictably Stone attacked with relish, running up a 1st wicket partnership of 183. When finally we started getting wickets Stuart Mitchell(c) took a commendable 4-62, the other 2 wickets falling to Toby Gundry(c). Some late slogging however took Stone to an impressive 285-6 in their 40 overs.
The Grannies needed to come fast out of the trap but a good start from Jo Brennan (51), his brother-in-law Paul Amiss (30) and Ed Gardiner-Hill (28)was not sustained against a strong bowling attack and we declined to 199 all out in 37.3 overs.
Granny bowlers, expect an early email from me next year for this attractive fixture played in a good spirit but against competitive opposition!
