Sun Jun 15th Creff loses for the last time.

Match report

A beautiful day and the Grannies arrived in force for pre match hospitality with Pitt-Brown and Hamilton supplying a bountiful B-B-Q with rides for everyone in the latest Bentley GT convertible. This was fine until after the match Nigel Draffan jumped into the drivers seat, did a Lewis Hamilton round the ground and was severely bollocked by the Headmaster.
We lost the toss and went into the field, restricting the GDs to 162 all out.Nick Pitt-Brown bowled very well for 4-27 with Tom Hamilton 1-20 Peter Pitt-Brown 2-17 and George Chesterton 2-19 all contributing.

We went in to bat and after a brave effort were all out for 145,a game we we should have won.The main reason for our loss was the extraordinary bowling of 11 year old Hector Don who took a remarkable 3 wickets, including a caught and bowled of 76 year old Jo Frampton. He would have had 4 if the keeper had stumped his father Andrew who walked about 2 yards down the pitch and missed it,however in future if any of the Don boys are available, please ensure they are retained for the Grannies!
So for the batting Andrew Don made 33no,Tom Hamilton 31,George Chesterton 22 and Nigel Draffan 23 were the main runmakers and there was a strange incident with Draff who was clean bowled by a full toss and was walking out when the umpire called no ball.As the ball hit the wicket at least halfway down the stumps it was interesting to hear the umpire opine that the ball went over the batsman,s head and was dangerous.Does anyone think Draff is shrinking?

Peter Pitt-Brown has agreed to run the fixture next year and so after over 40 years of service to the Grannies I am hanging up my boots and will devote my time to getting my golf handicap down to 23!

Match info

This is DEFINITELY Creff's last outing as match manager for the Grannies. He has surrounded himself with the stalwarts of the Gravediggers match plus a few sons who will be expected to do everything. Creff has magnanimously decided to sit this one out and will be seen in his bath chair, glass in hand cheering on the troops. Don't expect a match report anytime soon as the computer is beyond him. Good luck everyone, especially Joe Frampton batting with Tom Hamilton.
