Result - Falconhurst

Sat Aug 30th Grannies won by 4 wickets

Match report

A fantastic game enjoyed by all. West and Waldon opened the bowling and although they bowled well didn't get the rewards they deserved until the Chairman stood up and took a fabulous legside stumping off Waldon. West then produced a pearler to remove another bat. There was then another decent stand until Leefe and the captain bowled in tandem and wickets started to tumble as the batsmen holed out in various places around the midwicket area. In the end Falconhurst were bowled out for 203 with Leefe taking two wickets and the captain five (much to his own surprise!).

The Grannies had their collapse early with great shots being mixed with very bad ones as the team subsided to 42 for 5. Llewellyn and EGH stabilised the innings very watchfully and then moved things forward until EGH departed for 60 after a few lusty blows. Llewellyn and Daffarn saw things through with 9 overs to spare with Llewellyn finishing not out on 88 - a very good effort considering that he canoed from Dover to Calais on Friday. Both sides enjoyed the game and everyone got to do something. A few jugs were bought in the pub afterwards.
