Result - Eton Ramblers

Sun Aug 3rd Rained off draw, chasing with 80 runs to win.

Match report

After the disappointment of Saturdays rained off game the weather threatened again although on first arrival it looked positive. As the teams arrived the rain slowly came and got quite hard at times.
We took an early lunch at 12.30pm when the rain stopped so we managed to get out by 1.30pm for a 40 over game. We won the toss and opted to bowl hoping for some early movement.
Sam and Gwilym opened up well showing good pace but anything offered up was dispatched on this batting track. Gwilym, bowling his last over injured a Hamstring and limped off. Leaving 4 balls to take, the captain stepped into the fray and first ball bowled him with one he is still dreaming about today. (I had to put this in) So he had to give himself a couple more overs.
After a short period when they threatened to dominate, Piper, Knight and Kelly all kept it tight with Kelly getting 3. We kept them to 208 for 8 off 40 overs. With only 10 men, on this pitch was pleasing.
After an early wicket, Paul Knight(37) and Andy Spencer(42) got us off to a very solid start getting us to 92 in 20 overs. By this point the rain started to come and we lost 3 quick wickets, falling to 98 for 4. When we were building for the final attack the rain persisted and won the day. The groundsman who was very patient all day could not watch us tear his track up any further. Shame this could have been a very interesting finish. I will now have to wait till next year to get revenge for last year.
