Result - The Tulls

Sun Jun 29th Match Drawn: Grannies 228-7, Tulls 165-9

Match report

A lovely day saw an excellent match which The Grannies just failed to win. The Grannies made 228-7. Charlie Weston Simons and James Goodhew (30)got us off to a good start before Andrew Eliot with 27 and Rob Waddington (43) carried on the good work. The captain Mark Pougatch then weighed in against some tiring bowling with a rare half century (58) and together with prospective member Steve Bull put on 80 for the 6th wicket.

Jon Staniforth and Dom Ely opened the bowling in fine style and the first six batsmen were all clean bowled, Stanners and Dom moving the ball beautifully both in the air and off the pitch. Stanners took 2 wickets, Dom 4 in 2 fine spells, James Marriage nipped out their dangerman but coming into the last over we still needed 3 wickets. The captain threw the ball to Rob Waddington who, after 4 deliveries where nothing happened, then took a wicket with each of the last 2 balls!

It was a lovely Grannies day with many families and kids present and fabulous hosts in the Hardman family to whom we offer our annual and heartfelt thanks.
