Result - St Paul's 'All Stars'

Thu May 22nd Grannies win by 13 runs.

Match report

With half the team stuck in the Hammersmith traffic 5 minuites after play was due to start it was agreed that St Pauls would take the field and the Grannies batting line up was on a first come first serve basis.

Ashley Butterworth kept up one end as his partners got in, made some big hit's and then got out. The skippers orders were a minimum of 140 in the twenty overs and the team almost obliged reaching 137 for 7 in the twenty overs. A lovely little cameo of 37 not out including some lusty blows over his old school boundary rope by Adrian Lee in the final few overs ensured a respectable target was set. St Paul's started well, with Angus Frasers brother taking on our bowling attack but a couple of bowling changes and it was Lee who made the break through once again taking his ex masters off stump as well as another wicket in the same over. He and webster bowled steadily in the middle overs and with the light dimming the skipper bought on his two quickies for the final 6 overs. Sam Weston Simons and John Davies insured that the 137 was just too big a target in the fading light and the Grannies finally celebrated victory in this fixture after many years!
