Sun Jul 3rd Grannies win by 4 wickets!

Match report

Such are the numbers of the legal profession in The Grannies Cricket Club that you could have been forgiven for mistaking Sunday's match as an internal Grannies fixture. Even our esteemed Chairman was "batting* for the other side"! And as a recruiting ground for potential barristers what better occasion to demonstrate the lifestyle and commitment with several up until all hours talking...at the bar. The trickle of red eyed cricketers way past the scheduled starting time indicated that the celebrations for beating the "solicitors" the day before were having an effect. And the Bar effect lasted most of the day starting with losing the toss, being a man down and being bowled out for 97. Rarely has such youth and talent represented the Grannies...the three antipodeans (Martin, Garforth, Lindsay and Downer...a leggie) bowling with skill and control on a helpful track. Gibbo gave his all until he hobbled from the pitch feeling teh effects of yesterdays exertions...and the youthful Noble after looking at the pitch swapped his pace for offspin.

The day was punctuated by food intervals and after a steady start by the Grannies 40 odd for 1 (the 1 being a skuttler that did for Snowden senior) the tea interval took full effect and we quickly lost 4 wickets for bugger all. Big Jim got his head down for 47 and Jonno and Ed finished the job...just in time for Jonno and Warwick to make the dash to the station...still in time to get home for tea...again.

*and keeping rather well too!
