Match report

After a last minute drop out the Grannies managed to field a full side (many thanks to Richard Finn for stepping in at the last minute) against a significantly improved Castle Hill side. We won the toss and fielded first on a hard but low track with a dry and bumpy outfield. After a good start the Grannies faded and after some lusty hitting Castle Hill ended on 229 for 3. Paul Knight, Leo Avery and Hugo Lawrence (c) worked hard for little reward and Hugo Llewellyn bowled well and took two wickets once he got over the normal first match nerves. It was one of those days in the field where catches did not go to hand all day.

The Grannies response started well with Ed Gardiner-Hill (25?) and Paul Knight (49) scoring quickly and then Hugo Llewellyn (32) and Toby Sykes (20?) but wickets fell regularly and Will Finn and Hugo Lawrence played out last few overs leaving the final score at 167 for 6.

How to get there
From the North, follow the A21 South, past Tunbridge Wells and Pembury to the Kippings Cross Roundabout. Take the first left off the roundabout and follow the B2160 to Paddock Wood. When you get to the village of Matfield, pass the village pond and go right at the next crossroads, signposted to Brenchley. Enter the village of Brenchley and go left up the hill, opposite the church, signposted to Paddock Wood. At the junction at top of the hill go right onto Crook Road. Follow Crook Road for 1.1. miles. The ground is on your right just before the Castle Public House which is on your left (please note that for 2007 they did not serve sandwiches or food after 1.15).
